Appel d'Air Theatre Velo (France)
Friday 25 January 8.00pm
Between heaven and earth, between life and death, alone in the big city, a man is lost for a night in the madness of his unbroken solitude. Suddenly his room becomes the cabin of a boat, his bed an ice field filled with penguins, and the everyday objects around him are transformed as his imagination carries him further and further away from mundane reality
Does the man live in a dream, or are his fears all too real? He is afraid of the outside world but very soon his child-like games will present him with a choice - whether he falls or flies the call of the air and of the sea could set him free….
"A depth of symbolism and meaning that leaves many scripted plays bereft…the staging and production of this piece is magical and joyous" La Tribune De Geneve (Switzerland)
"Technically this production is masterful…while there is wit, whimsy and wonder, the predominant mood that Velo create is one of pity for the lost souls of the world - and gratitude that our Festival brings us such expert and esoteric theatrical experiences" The Advertiser, Adelaide (Australia)
