The third Gordon McCrae Award was presented to Donald Smith during the Puppeteers’ Weekend at the Puppet Animation Festival 2008. This annual award was created in memory of Gordon McCrae, a.k.a. "The Amazing Mr Bones", who died suddenly in 2005. Over the past twenty five years Donald has been an inspirational guiding light for Scottish puppeteers in a wide variety of practical and supportive ways, primarily through his founding of the Puppet Animation Festival in 1984, and then working as its Chairman and Board member until his retirement in 2001.
