For Ivan, being the youngest son of the Russian Tsar wasn’t always fair. Bullied by his brother, belittled by his dad, he was always having a rough ride. Until one moonlit night and unusual visitor flew into the royal garden. Glowing, golden and glorious – a Phoenix! A Bird of Flames! “Whoever catches that bird shall have my crown” roared the Tsar. A challenge set, a perilous journey to be undertaken, but can Ivan succeed? A beautiful and sophisticated piece of shadow theatre.
An adult puppetry drama that explores the lives of six tenement flats in Leith. This production - using a wide range of puppetry styles and techniques from ground floor to attic - has been created in collaboration with Dominic Hill, Artistic Director, Dundee Rep and the writer John Harvey. EH6 promises to be an original work breaking new ground for Scottish puppetry, smashing stereotypes and jumping out of the box!
